Farewell 40k Radio

So today's big news twist. Spencer over at 40k Radio is retiring from the podcasting business due to threats leveled against him and his family from an anonymous source. (Here's a link to the whole affair).

First off, I'd like to give my thanks and condolences to Spencer and his crew. In my long time periods away from the hobby (due to school), I regularly listen to them and amp myself up for the next time I can sit down and paint or play a game. Even though the likelihood of this being read by them is slim, once again, thank you 40k Radio for keeping my passion for this game and hobby alive.

Second, I hate people who hide behind the anonymity of the internet with a passion. It disgusts me to think that we live in a modern age of logic and reasoning and people like this act cowardly and disgracefully. There is no place for behavior like this in our hobby or our lives. These people should be ashamed.

*End of Rant*

  1. Being that Scott is a member of law enforcement, and its a crime to threaten people over the internet/email, AND the perpetrator is apparently known, i can only hope that charges are soon filed.

It wasn't my favorite 40k podcast, but to suffer this fate is an abomination! Not to mention it will for sure send shockwaves through the podcasting community.

Once again my faith in humanity slips a notch.

  2. Pulled this PM exchange off my DLT account this morning. I contacted dapatrick on the DLT forums as I remember him as being very vocal about Jar-Jar’s slip up a few months ago. He was attempting build some support towards getting sponsorship pulled from 40K Radio. When I read the above e-mail I was struck by the tenor of the letter as being very similar to how dapatrick writes his posts. Further, dapatrick has a post on the DLT forums with an alleged bit of correspondence from Stephen Hope.

It should be noted that dapatrick has not denied that he is Stephen Hope aka, Jack the Ripper. Actually, his easy and off-hand dismissal itself is suspicious. I know that if I was accused of being someone who would do such a thing, I would definitely deny it.

dapatrick has not made that denial. If anything he has responded with the lofty dismissal so prevalent amongst internet badasses who sit safe in their anonyminity.

The first communique is listed at the bottom and works backwards towards the top.

    No thanks….

I see you are still declining to answer the really important question…

Are you the person who sent the e-mail to Spencer at 40K radio?

I don’t know how to respond to that.

If you are Stephen Hope you are a detestable human being.

If you support the e-mail sent to to Spencer at 40K Radio via Jack the Rippa (aka, Stephen Hope) than you again qualify as a detestable human being.

If you are neither of the above then you are merely someone with whose point of view I disagree with.

    Are you Stephen Hope?

I guess it is pointless to ask.

I remember you leading the charge on these forums back when Jar-Jar dropped the N-bomb on 40k Radio.

Either way, I disagreed with you then and I disagree with you know

  3. How many times has Spencer misrepresented other people's personal emails? Phil, Scott, Chipley?

Everyone has jumped down this Stephen guys throat and we have no idea about the actual exchange that happened between the two.

If someone actually made a threat then it wouldn't be posted on an internet site - it would be with the local law enforcement... this is silly.

We know Spencer twists information so he looks better to his listeners. Spencer just lost his cash cow and I bet he wanted to take down as many other people as he could.

  4. Ironic that someone uses an anonymous tag to reply to this post...

  5. I was a Freeboota (membership ended in May) and this whole situation appears to be clouded in fog of deception. All we do know is that the show was terminally sick and surrounded by drama in the weeks leading up into its' demise. Regretfully we will never know the real story behind all of this.

    RIP
